Home Building Timeline
There are two types of home building timelines. One for the design build up and the local authority
approval process and the other for the construction period on site (usually called contract duration).
Both sets of professionals (Building Designer and the Builder) will be able to provide their own suggested or
forecasted home building timeline graph for the homeowners assessment.
From start to finish the home building timeline for most house extensions is around 11 months. That may
seem like a long time but when broken down into its constituent parts it soon becomes clear that house
extension development can be very time consuming.
The home building timeline graph can be influenced by many factors such as the turnaround time required by your
home extension designer, when can the builder actually start on site after acceptance of their quotation, how
quickly is the client responding to various drawing issues for approval, how quick will the Council be at approving
the applications.
