Double your house for half the
money.
Channel 4 have announced that the so called 'property expert' Sarah Beeny is
taking on a new project and presenting another home improvement show entitled, Double Your
House for Half the Money.
The programme is meant to show homeowners how to best extend their existing property rather
than moving to a larger home which I suppose is for half the cost of moving.
Well here at The Christopher Hunt Practice (CHP) that's what we
have been doing for over 30 years now for our clients and we are proud of our achievements and a few of our
projects are featured on this web site under our gallery photos.
With many homeowners finding it very hard to find a fresh mortgage for a new property move
these days, many are now turning to extending their existing property for that important added space.
The new programme is to be made by Red House TV, Sarah
Beeny will show families how to “work with what they’ve already got by extending every which way they can,
using and adding onto the space they already have, while re-configuring their interior space…”
Each week will feature a different project home, but overall, the challenge is to increase the
size of a family’s existing home by around 100% for a fraction of the cost of moving house.
The programme makers have contacted The Christopher Hunt Practice early in 2012 to feature any clients that are
just taking on such projects with a possibility of being featured within the programme. Red House TV have
again approached us in early July 2012 to feature some of our existing completed projects of
high end bungalow extensions. This was their request.....
'As part of our new series, we are keen to include a few
‘dream properties’. These aspirational properties are intended to showcase some cutting edge architectural
designs, while also amazing our audience, and inspiring our contributors. We are particularly keen to
include an impressive bungalow extension in the series, especially one that totally transforms the house. As
I said, some of your projects could be perfect for this sequence, and would offer our viewers some real
inspiration into utilising this often neglected space. I would be really grateful if you would consider any
past projects that you think might be suitable for this segment of the series.'
CHP has contacted a few previous clients to see if they are willing to take part in the show.
Katie Boyd, who is Channel 4’s Features Commissioning Editor, said of the show, “We really
wanted to show people that they can turn their existing home into their forever home for a lot less than it
would cost them to move. “And who better to come up with some radical plans and help them on the way but
property guru Sarah Beeny.”
Well that last statement may be a bit 'over-egged' by the usual media hype luvvies as it
really does not take a TV personality with some limited property developing experience to show ordinary
homeowners how best to extend and improve their homes.
The Christopher Hunt practice is already here for you with a proven established track
record of successfully extending peoples homes with the best designs and a flexible collaborative
approach. You really do not need to watch a TV show to get inspired - simply give us a call
or use our initial site meeting service for our property potential
report.
