The Contract Period For On Site
Construction - How To Plan For The Design Process Of Your Home Extension - A clients guide.
The contracts length (the build time on site) will be detrmined by the complexity
and size of the works proposed and your designers assessment of the scheme which is all subject to
the final builders approval.
As a guide a classic two storey extension of say 60M2 with minimal internal alterations to
the existing structure will take most good builders 3 months (12 weeks) with a 4 week overrun for final snagging or
finishing due to inclement weather for example.
You are advised not to build in critical pressure timings for your scheme such as 'must be finished
before going on holiday date' as this will simply add to the stress to all parties concerned. Build in an
overrun period and go for quality of build above finishing on target days.
