Home Building Process
Dozens of people are involved in the orchestrated effort to build a new home or extension.
The various stages can take the better part of a year for a complete new home, or around 3 to 6 months for a
home extension.
Modular and manufactured homes follow a similar process, except that many of the constructional
steps are completed in a warehouse. Most home extensions follow a traditional masonry build but the use of timber
framing for the home building process is becoming increasingly popular.
Timber frames are transported to the site once the foundations for the building and the services are laid. The
frames are erected and within 3-7 working days, depending on the size of the building, the property can be weather
tight and secure.
Thereafter internal and external finish can proceed simultaneously resulting in a quick and efficient build. The
open frames allow easy access for the purpose of insulation, heating, lighting and plumbing engineers.
